So it's getting very near the end of the year and we all know what that means. No, not tax season. Everyone will be making their New Years resolutions. A lot of people will claim that they will travel to that foreign country they've been wanting to go to for years. Others will talk about the promotions they'll get at work or even having their first child. Majority of people though will once again talk about how they are going to get in shape. Lose weight and look like a model they idol. What I don't understand is why these people would declare something like this yet never follow through. How can you expect for things to change if you don't put the work in?
Sure looking hot on the beach in a sexy bikini is nice and all yet losing weight should be so much more than that. There are so many chronic diseases out there that can be prevented just by eating the right foods and exercising regularly. Why allow yourself to become one hundred plus pounds over weight? Why want to spend so much extra money on junk food and later on medical bills that could have been avoided? It isn't more expensive just to buy healthy foods and cook at home it actually will save money. It saves money by you not wasting gas to go buy food from fast food restaurants. It will save you money down the road when you potentially develop type 2 diabetes or any of the other chronic diseases associated with being severely over weight.
Yes staying motivated is hard. Yes doing the exercises and eating the right foods is hard. What people don't realize is that it's so much harder when your knees start hurting cause they can't support your body weight. It's harder when you have to wear a breathing mask attached to a machine to make sure you don't stop breathing in your sleep. It's harder sitting on the side lines when your children what to be active with you and you aren't capable of doing just that. I would much rather lift the heavy weights and push my body to do hard works out. I would much rather eat the healthy foods because in honesty they don't taste as bad as people think. I chose this hard because I do not want my son to come running up to me wanting me to play with him in the back yard and I'm not able to do it. I chose this hard because I don't want my son seeing me being lazy and learning from my example of eating junk food rather than foods that fuel the body.
I don't understand how the severely over weight parents can just sit back and not realize that taking care of themselves is another way of taking care of their child. It is not taking away from my child if I exercise for 30 minutes to an hour a day. It isn't taking away from my child if we eat grilled chicken and vegetables instead of going out for a Blizzard from Dairy Queen. My child is gaining a mother that is able to run around the park with him without needing to sit down after five minutes out of breath. My child is gaining a mother that is healthy and able to take care of him when he is sick without worrying that I am going to catch what he has. My son is gaining a mother that will live a long life and not worry that his mother is going to die because of my physical health when I could prevent it.
This rant of mine isn't about people who are just simply twenty to fifty pounds over weight. My rant is towards those that have gone well past that point. To the point where your doctor tells you that they only thing you can do to fix your health is to lose weight. Some doctors will tell women that they need to lose weight so their body is capable of handling a pregnancy. I just don't understand when there is so many reasons to just simple watch what you eat and exercise on a regular basis why people don't do it. Sure it takes time but I would rather spend that time doing the right things than spending countless hours, days and years wishing I had.
